The Bachelor of Education (Arts) Programme is tailored towards preparing teachers to teach Arts and Humanities at secondary school level and in tertiary institutions. This Programme was established at Chuka University in response to the continued need for qualified graduate teachers in secondary schools and tertiary institutions. The Programme puts into consideration the requirements of the current secondary school curriculum thus being holistic in nature. The graduates of the Programme will obtain a Bachelor of Education (Arts) degree of Chuka University.
By the end of the Programme the learner will be able to:
Candidates admitted to the Degree of Bachelor of Education (Arts) must satisfy the minimum entrance requirements of University entry with minimum C in English. They must also satisfy departmental requirements before registering for courses in the respective departments. In satisfying the minimum entry requirements of the University, candidates must have passed the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) with a mean grade of C+ and a minimum of C+ grade in two of their teaching subjects which include: Mathematics, English, Kiswahili , History, Geography, Religious Education and Business Studies.
The Bachelor of Education (Arts) Programme takes four academic years. Each year consists of two semesters. In addition, the students shall take twelve (12) weeks of Teaching Practice in approved secondary schools or equivalent institutions. The Programme will be offered in fulltime, school-based, ODEL and blended approaches.
Full Time Ksh – 68,500 per Semester
Online Learining (Odel) – Ksh – 54,500 per Semester
