The frequency and changing forms of disasters require adequate capacity to respond to them effectively. The Certificate in Disaster Management will sensitize as well as enable learners to develop sustainable capacities to respond, mitigate, prevent and effectively manage disasters. The program will also form a starting point for high school graduates who do not qualify for diploma yet wish to pursue further studies in Disaster Management.

To qualify for admission a candidate must have obtained a mean grade of at least D+ (plus) at KCSE level or equivalent qualifications. Candidates who hold any relevant certificate are eligible for the Certificate in Disaster Management.
The Certificate in Disaster Management shall be covered in one (1) academic year of three (3) semesters of 15 weeks each. To fulfill the graduation requirements of the Certificate in Disaster Management, candidates must successfully complete 60 credit factors (C.F’s).
The certificate programme will be on full time or Part time mode.
