The need for leaders with integrity in all sectors is the main facet of the society today. According to the Kenyan Constitution, all public officers should be persons of high integrity. The Certificate in Leadership and Public Administration programme is designed in line with the Constitution of Kenya (2010) to produce responsible leaders of high integrity in all areas/sectors. Apart from equipping students with leadership skills to enable address the various challenges facing the Kenyan society today, the course will provide a firm foundation for those intending to pursue further studies in Leadership, Administration, and related areas. The Certificate in Leadership and Public Administration targets leaders of various sectors in Kenya and beyond. It targets upcoming and practicing administrators and managers in the public and private sectors who would like to improve their leadership skills. This programme is developed and designed for aspiring and serving state officers like County Representatives, Women Representatives, County Officers, County Administrators, County Secretaries, County Directors, Serving Public Officers like Chiefs, Assistant Chiefs, Social Workers, Community Development Workers as well as workers in Private Sector. County leaders, national leaders, Leaders of various NGO‘s and companies, Church leaders, Leaders of schools, colleges and universities, banks, law enforcement agencies, anti-corruption agencies will benefit immensely from this course.

The following shall be eligible for the registration in this course: Candidates must have obtained a minimum mean Grade of D+ (Plus) at the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) or its equivalent. OR Candidates must have obtained a minimum of mean Grade D (Plain) at the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) or its equivalent plus 2 year‘s relevant work experience. In addition, candidates must have obtained D (plain) in English or Kiswahili. OR KCSE holders with any Certificate recognized by Chuka University Academic Senate.
The Course shall take a period of two semesters of twelve (12) months. The Course shall be done by coursework and examinations. The mode of study shall be regular, evenings and weekends (Students shall take the mode most appropriate for them). A candidate shall take at least eight (8) units. A module shall be equivalent to 45 hours. Each unit shall have 3 Credit Factors (CFs). The minimum Credit Factors to be done by a student before graduating is 30 CFs.
