The Diploma in Early Childhood Development Education is a two year academic Programme comprising of four (4) semesters. The Programme is designed to address the foundation stage for the holistic development of human being. This stage is critical in the development of a healthy and well balanced adolescent and adult personality. The course also forms a strong base for learners who intend to pursue a Bachelor’s degree in early childhood development or other related fields of study.

The candidate must have obtained a minimum mean grade of C plain at KCSE or equivalent. Admission is open to holders of a certificate in early childhood development and / or other related courses from institutions recognized by Chuka University Senate. Applicants with a PTE certificate may be admitted into the Programme provided they have at least a KCSE mean Grade of C- (minus) or KCE Division III
To qualify for the award of Diploma in Early Childhood Development Education, a candidate must have passed a minimum of 90 Credit Factors (CFs) of courses approved by the senate. The Credit Factors consist of both Early Childhood Development and Education courses and courses from other disciplines. Students must go through field work attachment which will be supervised by members of academic staff. The student will be required to write a report at the end of the exercise.
