DIPLOMA IN HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT

COURSE INTRODUCTION

The Bachelor of Science in Finance is a four-year course intended to equip learners with key quantitative and analytical skills needed for financial decision making in a complex, competitive and globalized business environment. The graduates with this specialization are expected to develop skills that will enable them carry out financial activities in a wide range of organizations. Graduates of this programme will acquire knowledge to enable them pursue postgraduate studies or earn professional certifications such as Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and Certified Investment and Financial Analyst (CIFA).

By the end of this program, the learner should be able to:

Explain the theory and practice of the specific functions and applications of human resource management and  business administration within an organization

Describe how to improve these specific functional management competencies

Assume higher levels of responsibility as a result of newly acquired/improved knowledge and skills in human resource management.

Pursue further training in human resource management

The common University admission criterion is applicable. In addition, the candidate must have obtained at least a mean grade of C (plain) at Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (K.C.S.E) level or Division III at Kenya Certificate of Education (KCE) or equivalent qualification.The candidate must have also obtained at least a D+ (plus) in mathematics or Business Studies and at least a C- (Minus) in English or Kiswahili. Candidates with mean grades of C (Plain) but have less than C-(Minus) in mathematics and English or Kiswahili can be admitted after bridging in the respective subjects. Candidates with credit in certificate in Business from Institutions recognized by the Tharaka University Senate, and having a mean grade of D+ (plus) or equivalent in their K.C.S.E, are also eligible for admission.

The duration of the course is two (2) academic years comprising of four (4) semesters and 8 weeks of field attachment. In order to fulfill the graduation requirements for Diploma in Human Resource Management, candidates are required to take and pass all 94 credit factors (CFs) of courses approved by the Senate. The mode of delivery shall be Fulltime, part-time, evening, weekend, school based and ODEL.

Full Time  Ksh – 35,000 per Semester
