DIPLOMA IN PROCUREMENT AND LOGISTICS MANAGEMENT

COURSE INTRODUCTION

The business world is constantly changing due to innovations and inventions. Succeeding in the business world requires a highly specialized workforce that has the ability to communicate, adapt and understand the business environment. Diploma in business management offers an opportunity for learners to acquire a wide range of knowledge and skills, which is necessary for them to respond to various issues in the business field, particularly management of resources within the organization.

By the end of this programme, the learner should be able;

To describe concepts and principles inprocurement and logistics management

To apply knowledge and skill for effective and efficient management of procurement functions

To pursue further studies in procurement and logistics management

The common University rules and regulations for admission to a Diploma Programme shall apply. In addition: The candidate must have obtained at least a mean grade of C(plain) at Kenya certificate of secondary education(K.C.S.E) Level or Division III with Credit pass in Math and English at Kenya certificate of education (KCE) or equivalent qualification. The candidate must have also obtained at least a C-(minus) in mathematics or business studies and at least a C- (minus) in English or Kiswahili. Candidate with mean grades of C(plain) but have less than C-(minus) in mathematics and English or Kiswahili can be admitted after bridging in Senate recognized institutions in the respective subjects. Candidates with a credit in certificate in business from institutions recognized by the Tharaka University Senate having a mean grade of D+ in K.C.S.E or equivalent are also eligible for admission. Holders of Accounting Technician Certificate (ATC) final level are also eligible for admission.

The duration of the programme is two (2) academic years comprising of four(4) semester and eight(8) weeks of industrial attachment. In order to fulfil the graduation requirements for Diploma in procurement and logisticsManagement, a candidate is required to take and pass all 97 credit factors (C.Fs) of courses approved by the Senate. The mode of delivery shall be Fulltime, part-time, part-time (evening, ODEL, weekend).

Full Time  Ksh – 35,000 per Semester
